Kerala became the first country in the last 50 days to report more than 20,000 fresh covid cases in one day, because the main spurt in infection took the calculation of the day in the southern state to 22,129 on Tuesday.
Kerala accounts for more than 50% of all new cases in the country on Tuesday.
With the numbers that spin in the state, in he recorded 42,948 Covid cases, the highest count of the highest day in 19 days since July 8, when 43,494 infections were recorded.
