Mumbai: This country aims for 2 crore vaccinations in September, taking it closer to the aim of invalcing the entire population with at least one dose before December.
More than 1.8 doses of Crore have been provided so far this month.
The increase in vaccine supply also encourages a shift in allotment strategies: the district was asked about their needs than a country that allocated it based on usage.
For Mumbai, the demand for 3.5 lakh doses has been made, the highest since the drive starts in January, said the Supplementary City Commissioner Suresh Kakani.
“If the dose arrives, we will hold another special drive only for women next week.
There will also be special sessions for students, international travelers and people waiting for their second shot,” he said.
Mumbai has given at least one shot to 81.7 lakh people from the estimated population of 92 lakh adults.
With the average daily vaccination touching 7.6 lakh, the state hopes to break a 2-crore milestone before the end of September.
In July and August, each country gave 1.2 doses of crores and 1.4 crores.
Overall, the state has provided 7.7 crore doses such as on Friday, appealing to 5.5 crore people with at least one dose and 2.2 crore with both shots.
N Ramaswami, Commissioner, National Health Mission, said at the current speed, the country could expect to give one shot to the end of the year.
“Unless there are doubts, most people who are willing to be able to get shots in the coming months,” Ramaswami said.
There are plans to increase the number of sessions to 10,000 every day from an average of 5,000-6,000.
“We want to be able to vaccinate 15 lakh regularly,” said Ramaswami.
Until now, the country has managed 15 lakh vaccinations in one day only once.
More than 10 doses of lakh in one day have been given in seven days of this month.
A senior state official finally said in September, the vaccine supply had succeeded in offsetting demand.
“We can allow the district to tell us as much as they want.
All of this month, we allocate based on whatever stock we receive from the center.
There is always a large gap between what they need and what we can give,” the official said .
State officials said this spotlight has now been placed in a low-performance district such as Hingoli, Nanded, Nandurbar, where the coverage of a single dose floated around 40%, compared to 60% of the country.
They rush to increase coverage, especially in civil regions.
Some districts have blamed the termination of the service of nearly 16,000 contract workers by the Public Health Department since the Covid case was reduced to a slowdown in vaccination.
Senior officials said these districts had adequate labor and an additional appointment especially for the covid center which was empty now.
