New Delhi: About 75% of Covid’s positive samples, who underwent a genome sequencing in January, found infected with the Omicron variant of SARS-COV2, Director of the Disease Control Center (NCDC) Sujojeet Sujeet.
He added that Delta also continued to have an important presence in several states such as Odisha, West Bengal and Maharashtra.
“It is not true that we only see the Omicron variant.
Delta is still in this country.
The clinical severity is also caused by Delta.
The cases that come to the hospital should not be considered as omicron and hence the low severity,” said Singh.
In January, 9,672 samples were sorted as an infected case Omicron, up from 1,292 in December.
On the other hand, the proportion of the sample detected with delta infection was much higher in December at 17,272 compared to only 4,789 samples in January.
