New Delhi: Five state polls come next year, where the election commission held a first preparation meeting on Wednesday, could see polling booths increased by almost 25,000 above, 11,000 in Punjab, 2,160 in Uttarakhand and 262 in Manipur, according to the initial estimate.
The increase was taken into account the EC to cut voters per voting station to around 1,200 of 1,600 which is normal to maintain social distance considering the covid pandemic.
EC sources clarify that the numbers quoted above are temporary, based on the advice received by the internal discussion.

In the last polling of Sabha, it has increased to around 1.62 lakh voting stations, Uttarakhand 11,200, Punjab 23,000, Manipur 2.862 and 1,652 cave.
