Covid-19: Sunday Lockdown in Kerala to stay for another week

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Government has decided to continue locking on Sunday to 6 February and the decision about whether to enforce the lock on February 13 will also be taken after reviewing the situation of the pandemic in the state.
The decision to extend Sunday’s locking for one more week was taken at a Covid review meeting chaired by the Head of Pinarayani Minister Vijayan on Monday.
Sunday locking continues for one more week after report that the state will continue to witness more cases next week too.
However, in the meeting was observed that in several districts such as Thiruvananthapuram, Wayanad and Kasaragod, reported the maximum case in the past two weeks, the number of cases now began to fall.
Hospital receipts and the number of patients in the ICU in this district also declined.
However, in other districts such as Ernakulam and Thrissur cases increased.
Therefore it was decided to continue with Sunday locking as part of the caution for another week.
Classifications made for districts based on hospital admissions and restrictions will continue.
CM direct the State Health Department to take strict action on the government and private hospitals if treatment is rejected for people who are positive covid.
People have comorbidity, if they are tested positively, it must be hospitalized and must be given adequate care, CM said.
The meeting also observed that of 45,000 applications received for Covid compensation, 40,410 people have received compensation.
CM urged the war room formed to take stock of the number of people received at the hospital and ICUS.
It was also observed around 11 lakh people involved in Covid care as a volunteer in local bodies of the country.
In vaccination, the second dose was observed by 84% of the eligible population and 71% of children aged between 15 and 17 years were vaccinated.
