Chennai: Thirty of 38 districts in Tamil Nadu reported an increase in fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday, when the country reported 30,744 cases.
Although the country’s daily case crosses 30,000 marks after more than 238 days, the growth rate has begun to slow down, indicating a reduced level of transmission.
Increased 24-hour infection, which was around 3,000 on January 19, when the country reported 26,981 new cases, had been reduced consistently.
On January 20, the state reported 28,561 new cases, which was 1,580 more than the calculation of the previous day.
On Saturday, the state counting was 874 cases of more than 29,870 cases reported on Friday.
With this, the amount of effective reproduction (R-zero) – one of the main epidemiological factors – has also begun to decline.
R-Naught shows how many new cases are produced by one infected person.
On December 25, 2021, when Tamil Nadu reported about 606 new cases, R-zero was 1.4 and on December 31 when infection increased to more than 1,155 cases a day, R-zero was 3.35.
On New Year’s Day, it is 3.46.
If R0 is three, experts expect every new case of disease to produce three other infections.
However, R-zero in Tamil Nadu has now dropped to 1.26.
Dr.
Based on Vellore Dr.
Yacob John said falling in infection growth rate was one of the main indicators that the state might approach its peak.
“We have seen this in every wave of epidemics.
Cases peaked after the growth rate dropped.
When the case decreases, the active case will grow for several days.
When active cases begin to fall, death will increase.
Death will last to the top and fall.” He said .
However, health officials want to keep on guard until several other factors such as the level of preaching are controlled.
At the top of the second wave in 2021, the daily case floated between 30,000 and 36,000 for more than two weeks between 12 May 2021 and May 29, 2021.
“We have fewer people in the hospital, and we do not lack oxygen or not lack of oxygen or drugs, “said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
Oxygen consumption for medical and non-medical purposes throughout the country is now estimated at 117 MT a day compared to more than 500 mt for hospitals at the peak of infection in May 2021.
“This is probably due to an increase in vaccination coverage,” he said.
The state has been vaccinated by up to 89% of adults with the first dose and 63% of them with two doses compared to the national average of 92% for the first and 68% for the second dose.
The country continues to test around 1.5 lakh people every day.
However, the weekly average front minister of nearly 17% in the state and at least five districts – Chennai (28.3), Chengalpet (27.1), Tiruvallur (24,2), Krishnagiri (22,4) and Coimbatore (21 , 8) – On average above 20%.
During the past week, after a pongal vacation, this disease has spread to rural areas of the city.
From dishes 1,29 lakh, more than 28,000 have active Covid cases and in urban areas of more than 32,000 from the road 1.27 lakh have people who undergo viral treatment.
“We are unable to slow down vaccination, or drop guards on the mask and other pandemic protocols now.
We may not see zero cases immediately but we must be careful until the case goes down to the baseline,” said Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan.
Fresh cases in Chennai decreased to 6,452 from 7,038 on Friday, but Coimbatore, who reported 3,886 new cases reported the sharpest daily increase from 3,653.
