Chennai: new cases continued to increase on Friday, second day in a row when the State Health Department reported 1,596 cases, compared with 1,587 cases on Wednesday, 1,544 on Monday and 1,556 on Monday.
Twenty-one district reported an increase in new cases, while 17 others reported a marginal decline.
The Minister of Health of MA Subramanian, who held a detailed discussion on the upcoming Mega Vaccination camp on Sunday, urged people to visit the nearest vaccination center between 7am to 19:00 to take the first or second dose on time.
Nearly 40,000 booths have been established in PHCS / GHS / ICDS centers / lunch centers, and schools will vaccinate 20 lakh people over 18 years.
