Coimbatore: The number of micro detention areas increased from 26 to 96 in Coimbatore Regency in the last four days due to the increasing number of Covid cases.
The micro detention area was declared around the homes of people whose samples tested positive for Covid-19 with dropout, which is an indication of the possibility of omicron variants.
The inauguration of vaccination amplifiers at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Monday, the Collector of the District G SS SECEERAN said 6,000 international passengers arrived at Coimbatore in the past month.
Everything was tested for Covid-19, and 96 samples have dropout genes.
“The results were received with only four samples confirmed to be an Omicron case.
But we treat all 96 as an Omicron case, located on a safer side,” he said.
The collector said in accordance with the micro detention strategy, only a house where people tested positively with dropout genes and the closest environment they would be declared a detention area.
Separate Omicron Ward has been made in CMC and ESI hospitals for patients and special care given to them, he said.
Collectors say most patients tested positively in the past few days have mild symptoms.
In accordance with the latest triating protocol, adults who have taken two vaccine doses and have no comorbidity can be isolated at home.
“This will keep the reception level low.
But the reality is that the spread is fast.
People must be careful and follow the appropriate Covid behavior,” he said.
“At present only 18% of positive cases are hospitalized and the remainder of 88% isolated at home.
Private hospitals are also instructed not to recognize asymptomatic patients without comorbidity.
The quarantined house will be monitored with a special team that will visit door to door, “he said.
A total of 70,955 frontline workers, health workers and senior citizens qualified for Booster Shots in the district in the first phase.
They are expected to be vaccinated at the end of January.
