New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi announced on Saturday that the “Prevention Dosage” (reinforcement) of the Covid vaccine for health workers and front lines and for those with over 60 with co-morbidity will begin on January 10.
He also said vaccination for children aged 15 years -18, using Covaxin, it will start from January 3.
Years.
Covaxin is the second vaccine, after Zycov-D Zydus Cadila, to get a rules for limited use among children in the 12-18 aged bracket.
However, the current vaccination program will include children over 15.
Modi also said the agreement for the nose vaccine and the first DNA vaccine in the world is on the runway.
PM starts with Christmas wishes and then talks about the emergence of omicron variants and implications, urging people not to panic while observing the Covid protocol like wearing masks and hand sanitization.
He said the country had learned because it had provided 141 doses of crore and the addition of significant capacity by means of oxygen inventory had occurred.
He said there were estimates and different reports about Omicron, showing that India’s policy response would be guided by his experience, the prevalence of infection and the efficacy of the vaccine used in the country.
The decision to reduce the curtain over speculation when the booster dose will begin.
PM said these calls would be based – as had occurred because the vaccine program was launched on January 16 – in scientific analysis and assessment originating from the study and vaccine launch.
People over 60 years with comorbidity will have the option to take a dose of ‘precautions’ or booster on their doctor’s advice, PM said, which underlines that India has made a decision after taking into account the situation and the local data regardless of global experience.
Decisions about vaccines for children are expected to convince students and parents, said PM.
So far, the center has been careful, pointing to the extensive prevalence of antibodies in the sub-18 population despite being not vaccinated.
But higher omicron transmission has increased the risk of disease though so far children have been spared from the worst effect of pandemic.
“This has been done in connection with the amount of time spent by frontline workers and health workers in covid patient ministry “said a government statement.
Even when active discussions occur around Omicron, scientists in India assess local data from 11 months vaccination in the country, while also observing experiences around the world, which varies from the country, said PM.
The assessment includes the impact of vaccination among parents, those who have co-morbidities and vaccine response in terms of gaps between doses.
The researchers also evaluated data on re-infection and breakthrough infections in India and also globally.
PM said the decision to introduce a ‘dose of precautions’ and children’s immunization will strengthen the fight against Covid-19 and help normalize education at school.
PM said the announcement would mark the opportunity for Christmas and BJP Stalwart’s birthday and late former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
He stressed that when the virus mutated, the state’s ability and confidence to face challenges also multiply together with our “innovative spirit”.
