Vadodara: The elderly couple who came to the city of Zambia was found infected with the Omicron variant of Covid-19.
They have been positively tested for Covid-19 earlier this week.
According to Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) official, the couple arrived on December 7.
The resident of the fatehpura area, the couple is under self-monitoring according to the guidelines because they are not from ‘risky’ countries.
VMC officials stated that the couple had undergone a RP-CR test on the suggestion of several relatives.
The 75-year-old man and his 67-year-old wife tested positive and suggested house isolation.
Their sample was sent for genome sequencing.
A report by the Gujarat biotechnology research center on Friday night confirmed that they were infected by the Omicron variant.
VMC officials have begun training browse their partner’s main contact and test it.
Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours end at 5 pm on Friday Gujarat added 60 Covid-19 cases, taking the calculation to 8.28 lakh.
