Dubai: New Coronavirus infections in the United Arab Emirates are mostly from more contagious variants that lead to an increase in the number of deaths related to viruses, the federal authority said.
The United Arab Gulf, with a population of around 9 million, has one of the fastest vaccination campaigns in the world.
However, the case has increased for more than 2,000 new infections a day, even though it was still below the peak in February.
On Saturday, the UAE recorded 10 deaths, the highest daily toll road since March, according to Reuters Covid-19 Tracker.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) said the increase in death was caused by the spread of beta, delta and alpha variants.
The beta variant, first detected in South Africa, is the most dominant variant in the UAE, contributing 39.2% of cases, he said.
Delta, was first detected in India, accounted for 33.9% of infections.
Alpha, was first detected in the UK, accounted for 11.3%, he said on Twitter on Sunday.
The World Health Organization (WHO) this month warned that Delta became a dominant variant globally from this disease with increased transmission.
People who have visited South Africa or India in the last 14 days are prohibited from entering the UAE, although some, such as citizens and diplomats, excluded.
Ncema urged the public to vaccinate, saying that 92% of those who were treated in intensive care were not yet inoculated, while 94% of those who had died were not vaccinated.
Many in the UAE have been inoculated with a synopharm vaccine from China, while the Pfizer-Bontech vaccine, Astrazeneca and Sputnik V are also offered to residents and residents.
Ncema said 91.8% of those who met the requirements were vaccinated, representing 71% of the population.
China’s disease control research last week said that antibodies triggered by two Covid-19 vaccines made in China were less effective against Delta variants compared to other shots but still offered protection.
