Mumbai: Maharashtra vaccination count in the last two weeks fell to a three-month low (since mid-August), displaying co-win portal data.
It has placed a question mark on the ambitious state plan to vaccinate all populations that meet the requirements with one shot in the next two weeks.
Apart from the Har Ghar Dastak campaign, there are only a few upticks in the number of daily immunizations.
Only 13.88 lakh jab given during October 30 to November 5, was attended by 27.2 lakh for 6-12 November – the two figures were the lowest in the last 11 weeks.
The final celebration encourages daily vaccination in the last week, but the amount is lower than the weekly jab given during the August-September period, data shows.
Compared to October when there was 1.5 crore vaccination, this month had seen nearly 44.32 lakh given in the first two weeks.
Dr.
Sachin Desai, the state immunization officer, said the door-to-door campaign picked steam in the district and the number of vaccinations had begun to rise.
“Daily average vaccination has been in a dose of 4.5-5 lakh for the past two-three weeks.
However, it touched 7 lakh on Saturday and will increase further from Monday,” he said, adding that the goal was to Touch 10 doses of lakh every day through a door-to-door campaign.
Maharashtra has an adult population of 9.14 crore, where 6.91 crore (76%) has taken at least one dose, while 3.34 Crore (38%) has taken both shots.
Desai said 2.2 crore people who have not taken their first shot will be borne if 10-12 doses of lakh can be given every day in the next two weeks.
In addition to the first dose, almost 75 beneficiaries of the lakh are caused by the second dose too.
In Mumbai, vaccination took significantly after the weekend Diwali when the city recorded vaccination 1-1.2 lakh every Sunday.
A citizenship official said that almost 70% of the dosage given now is the second dose.
While Mumbai statistically achieved the first dose coverage of 100%, almost 30% vaccination was still the first dose.
The official said that with train trips and access to most places related to vaccination, only a few wanted to remain not vaccinated.
After Mumbai, Pune (95%), Bhandara (92.3%) and Sindhudurg (91%) closer to regarding a single dose coverage of 100%.
However, the slowdown was worried about officials.
Dr.
Sanjay Deshmukh, Assistant Director (Medical), Pune Circle, told TOI that the number of sessions conducted by private hospitals had fallen further.
“The number of private hospitals who conducted a daily vaccination session dropped significantly.
It was 210 at one point, which has now dropped to an average of 150,” he said.
An official Pune Municipal Corporation said that with less than 10 beneficiaries appearing on private sites, many do not make sessions on certain days.
If the vial contains a dose for 10 people and only four rounds, six doses can be in vain.
Data shows that some small districts in Maharashtra with a population of less than one million far from achieving the maximum single dose coverage.
Sindhudurg, who has a population of only 5.8 lakh, has given the first dose to 91%.
Among other small districts with a single catch coverage of less than 100% was Washim (63%), Hingoli (60%), Wardha (80%) and Gadchiroli (66%).
All of these districts have a population of less than one million.
