New York: Are you wondering why your Covid test results are taken during the day different from it at night? Viruses may act differently depending on the time of day and circadian rhythm body, claiming a study.
Studies led by researchers at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center show that people are even more likely to have accurate positive test results if they are tested in the middle of the day than at night.
Their results, published in the Journal of Biological Rhythms, showed that the viral load was lower after 8pm.
If people choose to be tested at that time, there may be higher possibilities of the wrong results.
Fake negatives can be harmful to the community and for patients, who may not seek additional care because of their negative test results.
Data supports hypotheses that Covid-19 acts differently in the body based on our natural circadian rhythm, which has also been implied by the research of viral infections and other bacteria.
Covid-19 Virus Shedding – When infected cells release infection virus particles into the blood and mucus – it seems more active in the middle of the day due to modulation of immune systems with our biological clock.
“Take a Covid-19 test at the optimal day of increasing the test sensitivity and will help us become accurate in diagnosing people who might be infected but asymptomatic,” said Carl Johnson, Professor Vanderbilt.
The difference in viral covid-19 shedding throughout the day is important information that can inform how we test and treat viruses.
The top shed in the afternoon, when patients are more likely to interact with other people or seek medical care, they can also play a role in increasing the spread of viruses in hospitals and the wider community.
However, further research is needed to confirm the diurnal – active meaning during the day – the properties of the SARS-COV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, Johnson said.
Researchers believe temporal considerations can be used to maximize the effectiveness of intervention strategies and even vaccine strategies.
