MANGALURU: The pandemic-induced constraints on parties, particularly for weddings, have restored the standard method of running marriages at houses.
Decades before, before other parties have been altered into halls and other places from the coastal area, they’ve been held in houses.
Back then, relatives, villagers and acquaintances used to have together for the service, such as for preparing meals.
The pandemic has brought the kind of parties, albeit using a limited amount of guests.
Sachin Shetty, a cinematographer in Kaup, said that his family had to change the place of the sister’s marriage because of lockdown.
He explained:”Before, we’d intended to invite some 2,000 visitors into a hallway.
Nevertheless due to constraints, participation, mehndi and marriage ceremonies were held within our home May 13.
A week back, my buddies cleaned a section of the property, which dropped as the marriage place.
Functions went without any hitch,” he explained.
Previously, wedding-related trainings used to start no less than a month beforehand.
Arun U, Kannada lecturer in Canara College, recalls the relatives, neighbours and friends would come together to paint and wash out the home of their host.
“There were not any pandal or shamiyana providers out there.
Thus villagers weaved coconut fronds to be used as the background.
Food for guests has been cooked in home .
This sort of party was dropped over the decades because weddings and other dreadful programs were altered to halls together with event managers focusing on everything.
We’re glad that the older system has been restored, but with restricted guests,” he added.
Priyanka Kolya, a homemaker, stated that she’s heard about weddings occurring at houses from her grandparents.
“I never guessed my brother Jithesh would wed Deepa at a very simple function held in the home,” she added.
The district government has limited the amount of visitors into 25 for weddings using a rider which the attendees display Covid-appropriate behavior.
Lately, a lot of people who attended weddings and other purposes have been tested positive.
Some have also lost their lives.
