Thane: Bhiwandi Nizampur has the highest Covid death rate in the Thane district, the official event shows.
At 4.4%, this twice the overall case of case fatality recorded for the Thane District (2%).
Thane City has the least death rate.
District data showed that Covid’s overall death was 2.03% for Thane, which meant 11,596 people from a total of 5,70LAkh tested positively died of this disease since the pandemic began.
Thane was the third most affected district in Maharashtra after Pune and Mumbai who reported 19,761 and 16362 deaths.
Experts say that the lack of awareness and initiative taken by the regional government has contributed to higher death in Bhiwandi than side by side.
Officials from city corporations blamed the diagnosis and doubts between residents to play.
“Most people live in the slums here and have a little understanding of urgency for diagnosis and care.
There is a misunderstanding that prevents many people from approaching the hospital,” Jaywant Dhule Health Officer at Bhiwandi Civic Body.
Even in vaccination, the city has seen slow progress.
Instead, Thane City saw one of the lowest death rates at 1.4%.
