‘Covid can peak by Jan-End or February the first week’

Pune: Pune District in Maharashtra might see the ongoing waves of the Covid-19 case reaching its peak in the last week of January or the first week of February, and therefore the government took all steps to improve health infrastructure to overcome the situation, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Pune on Tuesday recorded 6,110 cases of Coronavirus with a 21 percent participant in the district count to 12.01.439, while the death toll reached 19,271.
Commissioner Division Pune Saurabh Rao said the district was watching a trend of rising as far as the number of cases of infection concerned and the authorities ensure that all precautions and prevention steps are being taken.
Asked about reports that showed that the average Covid-19 curve in Mumbai and Delhi, Rao said that Pune was three weeks behind Mumbai in terms of infection rate.
“It’s too early to say that it has reached the plateau, but if we assume that it has reached the highlands, I hope that maybe the last week of January or the first week of February, we (Pune) will also reach its status where Mumbai today , “he said.
Rao also said that if at the end of January or mid-February, Mumbai was really safe and the situation there was normal, then at the end of February or March, a similar situation could be seen in Pune District.
“The situation can change as climate conditions, demographics and lifestyles in Pune are different from Mumbai.
But according to the experience of the waves of the past, we can say that we will be in better condition in mid-March,” he said.
Talking about the current situation, Rao said the weekly leading level has increased in two to three weeks.
“This has witnessed a three percent increase to 21 percent.
If we compare it with three to four days, the level of participants has risen to 21 percent from 14-15 percent.” Going with trends in Mumbai, Kolkata or Delhi, most likely Pune District will reach around 35 percent of the level of progress, he said, “this can be a little delayed, the reason is adherence to the corresponding behavior of Covid (cabin).” Despite the level of participation in The up to 20 percent, the silver layer is that the inpatient level is around six percent, which is almost 30 percent during the second wave.
However, we are not too sure how the virus will do it behave in a few weeks to come.
So if the trend is reversed, we are preparing themselves To handle all types of scenarios, “Rao told PTI.
He said there were three factors that could be associated with less inpatient.
“First of all, the Omicron variant does not lead to complications among patients.
Second, the treatment protocol has increased and evolved and doctors have become more confident and third factor and important is that the wider community has gained sufficient trust and panic whether there are more Beginning, now less, “rested.
Rao said that the next Coronavirus meeting will be held on Friday.
“I think in the current scenario, we will not propose further restrictions as far as the economy and general life, but we are very concerned about the people to follow all the behaviors that fit Covid and work on immunity,” he said.
The official said that the Covid-19 mortality rate was very low now and said that the most positive thing from the current wave was that the infection would go to the lungs and affect them and reduced into the upper respiratory tract.
In the current scenario, the omicron and delta variants affect people, he said, “according to the behavior of the virus, it is estimated that at the end of the wave, Omicron will replace the full Delta and the death rate can go down.” Rao said that some steps were taken to improve Health infrastructure in Pune District.
“Covid care centers are being arranged, hospital staff trained.
We constantly talk to doctors and other stakeholders,” he said.
He also said that considering the past experience of drug shortages, further black marketing of drugs such as remediesivir and Tosilizumab, efforts were taken to ensure that there was sufficient stock of all the drugs needed, including Molnupiravir.
