Madurai: The number of active cases recorded in ten southern districts of the country rose to 30,100 on Monday from 28,660 on Sunday.
This region added 4,733 new cases to calculating 3,439 recovery.
The number of active cases in the central area also rose to 18,280 from Sunday 16,950.
Meanwhile, the number of new cases in the region has slightly down on Monday.
Nine districts including Trichy posted 3,163 new cases on Monday, while the numbers were 3,252 on Sunday.
Kanyakumari (8,045) has the highest number of active cases in South TN, followed by Madurai (4,897), Tuticorin (4,077) and Virudhunagar (3,335).
Other districts each have less than 3,000 active cases.
Sivagaai (821) is the only district with less than 1,000 active cases.
Kanyakumari with 1,236 new cases above in the region on Monday.
This was attended by Madurai (616), Virudhunagar (526), Tirunelveli (526), Theni (465), Tenkasi (453), Tuticorin (407), Dindigul (181), Ramanathapuram (144) and Sivagaga (144 ).
A total of nine deaths were recorded in the southern region on Monday.
This includes two deaths each in Madurai, Theni, Tuticorin and Kankumari.
Meanwhile, Thanjavur’s daily case fell to 1.117 on Monday.
Trichy (742) also witnessed swimming in new cases.
The number of active cases Thanbavur touched 5,578 on Monday.
The district issued 468 patients.
Trichy’s active case touched 4713 on Monday.
The central area recorded six deaths, three in Thanjavur and one in Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Trichy.
Trichy, who has the highest number of positive cases (88.128) runs out of 82,295 patients.
