Ahmedabad: Gujarat in 24 hours ended 5pm on Thursday adding 573 new Covid-19 cases.
With debit 102 patients, the state adds 471 active cases in a day, taking the calculation to 2,371.
This is the highest since July 5 as the state counting passes 2,000-marks after almost six months.
Gujarat did not record a new case from the Omicron variant on Thursday officials.
In contrast to Covid cases that increased exponentially in the last two days which could rise 93% and 39% on Tuesday and Wednesday each, the rate of increase in everyday case slowed to 4.5% in the state that has recorded 548 cases on Wednesday.
One of the deaths of each patient is actively recorded in Rajkot City and Aravalli.
State Minister Rushikesh Patel told the media on Thursday that VGGIS 2022 will take place in the midst of adequate screening and Covid protocol, ending speculation that the mega business summit can change virtually in the light of a worrying increase in Covid cases.
“Participants will be permitted after a negative RT-PCR test and full vaccination certificate,” he told the media.
When asked with a protocol such as isolation for seven days for those who came from abroad, the minister claimed that some rules would not apply to delegates.
“We also refer to this problem to the central government,” Patel said.
The Minister added that there would be a main vaccination drive from January 3 to 9 to cover adolescents who were eligible for Jabs.
He previously said that the entry of government offices would only be allowed for those who were fully vaccinated.
Patel said that the state has sufficient resources to overcome the increase in cases.
Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel on Thursday held a meeting at Ahmedabad with senior officials to review the situation in the city and steps to control it.
