Coimbatore: The number of fresh covid-19 infections reported in one day has crossed 2,000-mark in the district as 2,042 positive cases reported on Monday.
The number of patients positive Covid-19 who underwent treatment on Monday passed 10,000-mark and stood at 10,147 cases, although there were 657 cases sent home.
One person has died of infection in the district.
A 57-year-old child who has diabetes hypertension and type II died at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital within a few hours after entering.
In Coimbatore City, 880 cases were reported on Monday, officials said from the Ministry of Health.
With fresh infections, the number of people undergoing treatment has reached 3,932.
The level of peposititivity in the city is 22% because of the positive 880 tested from 3,998 samples taken on Monday, health officials found 256 violators of mask rules and 43,100 were well collected.
A total of 457 commercial companies were examined and 52 of them were found to have violated social blasphemy norms.
The total number of 23,400 collected from them.
