Kolhapur: The number of Covid cases in Kolhapur City has doubled in the second wave of Covid when compared to the first wave, in accordance with the data of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC).
In the first wave, which occurred until September last year, 9,971 cases of Covid were reported.
While in the second wave, from January 2021 until now, 20,389 cases have been recorded.
The highest number of cases reported on one day during the first wave was 404 cases and 564 on the second wave.
The high number of cases in this city is associated with a large number of tests performed.
In the first wave, 26,000 tests were carried out while in the second wave, 2.30 the lakh test was done so far.
Officials said that around 85% of RT-PCR tests have been carried out, which is the highest in the state, such as the 15% fast antigen test, which needs to be validated by RT-PCR tests if negative.
Kadambari Balkawade, Civic Administrator said, “We follow strict detention steps.
Unlike the first wave, this time the index is difficult to track because of the increase in movement.
So, we ensure the maximum citizens are tracked and tested.” The number of beds has also increased in city.
The number of regular beds increased from 831 to 1,189, oxygen beds increased from 203 to 320 and ventilator beds increased from 9 to 15.
The city has seven covid care centers, six special Covid care hospitals and two Covid hospitals specifically in terms of Only on Sunday, the city’s positioning level increases.
