The country reported 1,104 cases on Wednesday saw a leap of 344 fresh infections every day compared to last week.
Tally was also the highest country this year.
Other countries that saw an increase in cases on Wednesday compared to last week were Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Sikkim.
