Covid Case Rise, Death Count Low In Kolkata

Kolkata: Suddenly the burst in the number of fresh Covid cases in Kolkata since Thursday – when the city recorded 118 new infections, crossing the three images for the first time since July 4, 111 – has caused concern among medical officers and experts.
Some expect a slow and steady increase in new cases, which, they believe, can reach the peak in early October, leading the third wave, most of them feel they can become mild infections and that deaths tend to be much lower than the first.
Two waves.
However, others feel too early to be satisfied.
While Kolkata recorded 112 fresh cases on Friday, the number had spinned slowly from 60 to 89 between August 1 and 25.
However, everyday death had floated between zero and 4 in Kolkata during the period.
“Because more than 40% of the city population has been vaccinated, now there is a strong immune wall to fight Covid.
Infection will not only be mild, they will spread much slower, unlike the second wave that sees a very fast transmission and a more malignant attack because Little get a vaccine and therefore has a bad resistance, “said Institute of Education & Medical Research (IPGMER) Professor Diplipendra Sarkar.
However, the others, such as Apollo Gleneagles, a subir ganguly oncology expert, said that many, including doctors, had been very infected despite double vaccinated.
“I would expect new cases up slowly now and explode during pujas when many crowding might occur.
Suddenly Spurt in the case of Kolkata is directly associated with a crowd of puja-shopping that has swelled over the past few weeks.
Most are Covid protocols.
Flouting.
The most important thing, people roam into the crowd, who are responsible for transmission.
We have let our guard down and I have not put aside the severe waves, “Ganguly said.
But Sarkar said that since around 65% of the Kolkata population has developed sero-positivity, the victim will be low even though the number is high.
“We must see the victim now rather than the infected amount.
Death will be far less than the second wave.
But we must hold on to safety norms.
Most of our residents have received one vaccine that does not provide sufficient protection against the Delta variant,” he said .
This month, the number of active cases in Kolkata has also spin firmly from 734 on August 1 to 919 on August 20.
This rose to 973 on August 25, crossing thousands of marks on Thursday when the city had 1,013 active cases.
On Friday, it was 1,035.
“We don’t need to worry about increasing cases now, but must ensure that we vaccinate as soon as possible so that almost all populations receive at least one shot,” said Sarkar.
He added that even double vaccinations may not be effective against all strains.
“But it’s certainly better than one shot so we need to increase the speed of vaccination,” he said.
Even if most of the population of Kolkata is now vaccinated, a fairly large part remains vulnerable, said the heart surgeon and senior vice president of Medica Superspecialty Sarkar Kunal Sarkar.
“Because of our large population base, there are still quite large parts that can be affected.
The number will rise, but because we have a highly high sero-positive population now, infection must be mild.
We need to identify the bag and area where the transmission occurs and takes Steps, “he said.
