Kolkata: The part of the city of Bengal’s Covid Caseload is in a stable decline, leading the part of the experts to suspect that the surge of Omicron might shift to the district.
On January 1, Kolkata has 53% – or more than half – the number of fresh state infections; That number is now 32%, or shady less than one third, experiencing a figure Wednesday.
On January 1, Bengal reported 4,512 cases, where 2,398 came from Kolkata.
On that day, part of the five worst battled districts – North and South 24 parganas, Howrah, Hooghly and West Burdwan, with a total of 1,639 cases – has been 36%.
On Tuesday, the part of the Kolkata fell to 28%, while the combined part of the five districts reached 46%.
“According to these numbers, the part of the city from the Covid case fell, contrary to cases that jumped in several districts.
This is an indication of a surge in pandemic that shifts to the district,” said Diplipendra Sarkar, a surgical professor and part of the Covid Ipgmer task force.
Senior doctor Sukumar Mukherjee, a member of the Bengal Global Advisory Board in Covid, felt that Kolkata, “and, still, the center of the pandemic”, which is why the first surge was felt in the city.
“Now, with the city already overflowing with infection, now it’s fast to the district.” However, he said that this was a “very early assumption”, and that the period of about seven days was needed to confirm the trend.
