Pune: The mortality rate of Covid Maharashtra was reduced to a three-month low of 1.92% in October behind the increase in vaccination, detection of the initial case and timely maintenance.
The state mortality rate reached 2.07% in September and 2.83% in August.
Seeing further decline in death, Dr Avinash Supe, who was responsible for the Covid Death Committee of the State, told TI that the cumulative mortality rate for Maharashtra was 2.12%.
When a pandemic began in March last year, a 10% death rate and gradually fell to 0.92% in March, only rose to 1.68% in April during the second wave.
The Ministry of Health data shows that the highest mortality rate (7.41%) has been recorded between the age group 81 and 90, followed by patients in the age group 71 and 80 (6.37%).
Regardless of relaxation in the limitations, there has been no sharp increase in the number of Covid cases or death, said Dr.
Supe.
“The overall situation looks better and if the same trend continues, we must see this disease immediately endemic,” he said.
Dr.
Supe said there had been a decline in the number of patients and also death in October, considering there was no significant decrease in testing.
“This disease is now only common in several districts in the state.
After saying that, vaccination is still inadequate in slums and several other regions.
While the government does everything to spread awareness to eliminate vaccine doubts, there is a need for further coverage .
There is a need for a booster dose for people who have completed 10 months vaccination, “he said.
In the efforts taken by the Ministry of Health, said Dr.
Supe during the first phase of the first wave, around 21,000 patients were received after 3-6 days of symptom onset, because 50% of them died within 48 hours of entry.
“The formula is ‘tests, traces and treating’.
This helps early detection and treatment, followed by vaccination,” he said, adding that the focus must now be on a sudden spike and the genome sequencing for a new variant.
Members of the Task Force Dr.
Shashank Joshi confirmed the trend and said, “Some factors have caused a decrease in death, which includes vaccination, early care and easy access to monoclonal antibodies.
However, the target of the state is to reduce the CFR further and register zero covid death.”
