New Delhi: About 1,000 police officers in the city have been infected with Covid-19 during the third wave so far.
A senior police said that most of the infected was fine and was in house isolation.
About 90 percent of Delhi police staff were vaccinated and asked to get the third jab managed.
Top police have asked the District DCPS to switch to online for meetings and hear public complaints.
Those infected include additional commissioners of police officers too.
In a statement issued by Pro / Additional Consultant Anil Mittal, Police Delhi said that almost a thousand police personnel had been infected with Covid-19.
“They are all under quarantine at home or isolated and will join the task after they recover completely.
Most men in vaccinated forces and those who qualify for the third booster dose also take Jab,” said the statement.
The overall strength of the staff from Delhi police is around 86,000.
In the midst of a rapid surge in Covid cases in the city, Police Commissioner Delhi Rakesh Asthana recently issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) to contain the spread of the virus among police personnel.
According to SOP, because police personnel are frontline workers, they are very important they take adequate precautions to protect themselves from Covid exposure.
Furthermore, directing that all police personnel must wear face masks, maintain social distance and practice the right hand hygiene when doing their duties.
It also motivates police personnel to complete their vaccination.
“Those who have not been vaccinated for medical reasons can be encouraged to seek more medical opinions for vaccination,” SOP said.
Many police officials have been positively tested in the waves of the first and second covid, some even lose their lives in the task.
