Chennai: The number of new Covid-19 cases continues to swim in Tamil Nadu.
On Friday, the state added 1,127 new cases and 15 deaths on the Covid-19 registry.
At the end of the day, 1,358 patients were out and there were 13,034 people undergoing treatment for viral infections.
Chennai with a test level of test (TPR) as much as 0.7 percent once again occupied the peak of the state infection graph with 146 new cases.
Coimbatore with a TPR which is slightly higher 1.4% remains the second most affected district with 128 infected in the last 24 hours.
TPR overall TN remained unchanged at 0.9% over the past week.
Alarming facts are that throughout the second wave decrease phase, the ratio of cases – the case-fatality of TN remains above one percent.
This means that for every 100 confirmed cases, at least one unfortunately dies from the virus.
The country has so far witnessed 36,019 Covid deaths.
These include 15 people, who died in the last 24 hours.
Except for one, others have comorbidity such as diabetes or hypertension.
As far as vaccinations, as many as – (updated) doses are given on Sundays.
So far, 69 percent of the population that qualifies in the state has received at least one dose of vaccine.
MA Health Minister Subramanian said that organizations such as the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) have argued that the third wave might be avoided if 70 percent of people have a dose.
Regarding the second dose, more than 40 lakh will be their second dose.
The minister said that all district level authorities have been instructed to identify beneficiaries who fulfill this requirement and they will be prioritized in future mass vaccination camps.
The state through six camps such has managed to manage 1.34 doses of crore.
