Pune: The number of active Covid-19 cases has surged through 4,000 marks in a week since the increase in detection began on the December FAG-end last year in the Pune Metropolitan area (PMR).
On the brighter side, among the total active cases (4,202), as many as 3,524 (83%) were in house isolation.
In accordance with the data provided by the District Health Office, 87% of the total active case (2,838) within the PMC limits are in home care.
Even the countryside in PMR recorded similar trends where around 85% of patients (785 of 880) were in house isolation.
The Pimpri Chinchwad area – where the active case count is still below 500 – has almost the same number of patients in home insulation and hospital care.
On Monday, PMR added 727 new cases, including 444 within the PMC limit, 149 in the PCMC area and 134 in rural areas and Cantonese.
331 people were dismissed at PMR, while two patients died of infection.
Active cases in this region are under 2,000-mark for almost a month until last week December.
The amount since surging by 90%.
The PMC area has recorded a 150% increase in active cases in one week, while rural areas and PCMC each witnessed a surge in 32% and 17%.
Health officials said most cases detected so far showed minor illness, did not need hospitalization.
According to data by the Division Commissioner, around 291 (11%) beds in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are occupied on Monday at PMR compared to a total of 2,455 beds available.
A PMC health official said, “We monitor cases.
Adequate bedding in hospitals have been made.
Health staff and office of the local environment have been asked to be vigilant”.
Sanjeev Wavre, Head of Health Assistant at PMC, said the citizens of appeal not to ignore the symptoms and undergo the earliest test.
