Covid crashes up public transportation

Rajkot: The number of people traveling on the city bus and BRTs drastically fell with Covid-19 cases increased sharply.
According to Rajkot Rajpath Ltd data, special destination vehicles that operate city buses and BRT services, the number of passengers decreases to 33,000 of 53,000 in the first week of January.
RMC runs 90 city buses and 18 BRT buses and the majority of commuters are students and senior citizens, because the number of Covid cases increases in the city, senior citizens have begun to avoid public transportation while school and college students also shift to online education.
Officials say when the number of cases increases, commuters per day will decrease further because women, who take the bus for transportation, will also shift into pedicabs or private vehicles and many of them will avoid travel without work.
