Covid dampened the celebration of Onam this year too

Nagpur: Onam, an annual 10-day harvest festival from Kerala, is celebrated by Malayalis throughout the world in Chingam to respect the return of King Mahabali and Vaman Avatar Lord Wisnu.
The festival is escorted in the midst of many people with people who practice various traditional rituals such as decorating their pages with ‘Pookalam’, a rangoli made of flowers, preparing a party known as ‘Onasadya’ and performances such as traditional dances and music called ‘onaChalike’.
However, as in 2020, this year the celebration plan will remain calm because of Covid’s pandemic.
People have chosen to spend time with their family and close friends.
The past president of Keralyee Samajam, Manoj PV, said several families will head to the farmhouse to call at the festival.
“People will dress in traditional clothes and the family will prepare onasadya together.
Last year there were more restrictions and so we couldn’t have fun in all celebrations,” Manoj added.
Sree’s City President Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Pavithran Karat said, “Previously, various organizations used to celebrate Onam with the entire community.
Because of the locking, we will observe the festive opportunity at home with our family rather than participating in large public functions.
Turning the cuisine Traditional Onam will be an important part of this lucky day.
“Ancie Wilfred, a housewife, said,” Every year, the peak of Onam has become a grand sada in our family’s house Kurup Uncle.
We joined two other families and we partyed with food Unbearable that uncle Kurup serves us with a lot of love.
These things are now just another sweet memory to appreciate because the Kuncian has denied us the opportunity to pamper our hearts and tastes for two consecutive years.
“Reveals the Onam plan, he said, “We will get certain items from Kerala Store, Mengum Pulkan several dishes of Kerala and have only with our close family.
” For the principal of the Essence International School of Menon, too, the celebration will be a low key.
“Because we are not in a position to go out and meet relatives, I will spend time with my husband and mother-in-law watching a special onam program that is naked on the Malayalam TV channel.
We will design POKALAM at the entrance to our house and trigger new clothes for Family members, “he said.
Menon believes the festival does not need to be a big celebration.
“Delicacies is an important aspect of the festival.
We plan to prepare 4-5 main dishes with ‘payasam’ or Kheer into the spotlight.
We tried to get Papadam and banana chips from the nearest Kerala shop,” he said.
“Because my parents with me this time, I have decided to spend a day with them and arrange a onam party,” said Rekha Nair, principal of scholars, atrey layout.
“Lockdown causes certain restrictions to go out and buy items needed for the festival but thanks to e-commerce sites, stock-free online shopping treated,” he said.
