Bhubaneswar: The State Health Department has completed the death audit allegedly caused by Covid, the authorities said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the country reported six more covid deaths, taking total deaths to 8,028.
The Secretary of the Additional Chief (Health) Pradipta Kumar Mohaparna said the deaths reported since Thursday and so on were the latest.
“The State Level Review Committee has cleared savings, which has risen during peak pandemic because the entire focus on patient care.
Death recently, if any, will continue to be reviewed and reported earlier,” he added.
In the midst of increasing criticism from various quarters of the death of “less reportation”, Mohapatra on May 20 told toi that the deaths reported were not a reflection of actual figures because many deaths were delayed due to a heavy workload.
About 4,000 (50%) of total Covid deaths were reported in the last two months.
Government sources say Covid death reporting will still be still from a certain day because there will be a time gap between districts that send reports on suspicion of death to the state-level review committee and reportage them after being reviewed.
However, it won’t be more than a week.
The death of Odisha was the 16th highest in this country, while the mortality rate of state cases 0.79% lower than the national average of 1.33%.
Odisha’s contribution to the total Covid state death was 1.82% (8,028 from 4,39,561).
The state has reported 6,152 deaths, so far, in 2021 compared to 1,876 years ago.
Officials said the daily deaths reported almost experienced a digit for about a month.
The last death included four of the Khurda, who had reported the highest death (1,463) so far, and each of the Cuttack and Jajpur.
At present, at all 714 Covid patients were hospitalized.
They include 461 in the ICU.
Among those in the ICU, 105 are in ventilator support.
Odisha registered 3,62,982 deaths for all the reasons in 2020, the year of the pandemic hit.
It was 20,035 more than 3,42,947 deaths recorded in 2019, an increase of 5.84%.
Death 2019 is 4.3% more than 2018 when 3,28,799 deaths are recorded.
