Visakhapatnam: Center for Social Exception and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP), Andhra University organizes national webinars on “poverty and malnutrition in India: Problems and Challenges” on Friday.
Chancellor, Andhra University, Prof.
K Kamatha, inaugurated the event.
Speaking as the main guest on that occasion, Prof.
Satatha stated that India had around 84 million people living in extreme poverty, translating around 6% of the total population, in May 2021.
“Pandemic Covid-19 pushes an additional 90 to 115.
Million people become Extreme poverty this year.
In India, around 44 percent of children are less severe and the majority of life populations in despicable poverty, “said Prof.

P Subba Rao, stated that most of the population in India was poor and noted that lack of food was the main reason for malnutrition.
Describing government initiatives and non-governmental organizations in dealing with poverty and malnutrition, Dr.
Rao states that the ‘diet change’ is needed between worse parts.
Andhra Medical College Principal Dr.
PV Sudhakar, Principal, in his speech, highlighted the problem of poverty and malnutrition.
He stated with concern how children under the age of five were wasted and hampered.
“The level of obesity increases among adults,” said Dr.
Sudhakar.
