Covid forced DU to hold an online exam, give a digital degree

New Delhi: Online Examination, Promotion to Teacher, Initiation of Research Grants, Secret Results and Digital Degrees are a few steps taken by the University of Delhi (DU) in the past year, where he fostered the Coronavirus pandemic and also lost many of his staff for it.

Because the situation is required by Pandemi, the University conducts internal assessment and online checks for the first time.
According to data distributed by DU, 2.9 lakh students wrote the first open book (OBE) examination held in August 2020 and 1.7 lakh in December 2020.
“The new inspection system throws challenges now and then during its implementation, but universities learn in how to deal with each and improve the system in the process.
Students can write their exams in the comfort of their home / space and the teacher can evaluate the electronics,” said the report ,
According to the report, the presence of students in June, 2021 OBE was more than 95 percent on average, which was around five percent higher compared to Obes last year.
The last year students, who graduated after taking online checks, were issued by digital temporary certificates to enable them to apply for acceptance in higher education, including at foreign universities.
Students are also issued digital degrees for the first time, so they do not suffer losses in pursuing studies or higher jobs, DU said.
The University issued more than 21,000 digital degrees and 3,900 digital temporary certificates.
More than 1.78 degrees Digital Lakh was issued during the 97th annual meeting.
The DU provides online transcripts, migration certificates, temporary marking and digital degrees.
It has also introduced a “DigiLocker” database for students so that they can access all academic records and documents stored in it.
The secret result will be given to students who will need it for higher education or work even before the official announcement of the results, the university said.
In the 2020-21 academic session, the center placement cell collaborated with Internshala, where more than 6,000 work-from-home work opportunities and 4,000 internship opportunities under the “Chalo India” program were expanded to students.
Internships carry allowances ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 30,000 per month.
7,500 students are beneficiaries of this opportunity, DU said.
Promotion Many teachers have been late for a long time.
In the past year, around 542 promotions are complete.
The university revived the initiative to provide research grants to teachers, which were not carried out after 2015-16.
According to DU, 165 research grants were given, around RS 5 Crore, under the scheme of the Institute of Eminence (IOE) to encourage research.
Seven patent applications were submitted in the past year and four were given.
Seed grants were given to the new faculty recruited to help them begin research before they secured extramural research grants, the report said.
Faculty members and departments are facilitated with online plagiarism detection tools, which are widely used with 649 users today and the number increases.
During the past year, 55,386 research papers or books were examined for plagiarism, the report said.
