Coimbatore: The number of fresh Covid-19 cases in the city gradually fell, said City Health Officer Dr.
Sathish Kumar was here on Friday.
Speaking with Toi, he said, Daily Caseload has fluctuated between 40 and 60 in the past week, compared with 60-80 about 10 days ago.
“In the days, the city center is only less than 50 cases.” The officer said when the cases went down, they did not compromise on the number of tests a day, when 5,500 to 6,000 samples were collected for testing.
He said they collected a fine of RS 50,000 a day from traders and the public, which violated facial mask etiquette and social blasphemy norms.
While City Corporation still conducts fever supervision camps every day, it has reduced contract workers involved in the same amount up to 500 from October.
The Civic body has deployed 3,000 workers for fever camps when the pulpmi is at its peak.
Another source with corporate health wings said the increase in the vigil at the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border had helped drop the number of cases in the city.
The source said the Minister of Health, who recently visited the city, has praised the district administration effort to keep the impression strictly on the border.
Indicates that the district only recorded only 125 to 150 cases of Covid a day today, the source said the district had not seen clusters in residential areas, late-school industry units.
“Mass vaccination camp helps us record the maximum population that qualifies and decrease cases.
In some wards, we have been inoculating more than 99% of the population that qualifies with the first vaccine dose,” he said.
