Pune: Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) on Thursday added 969 new Covid-19 cases as against the recovery of 639, pushing its active amount to 9,983, which included 5,099 patients in house isolation.
In addition, 13 more patients surrendered to infection in this region in the last 24 hours, taking total fatality to 18,714.
Urban bags in the City corporate area of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, as well as rural parts, add more cases than recovery in the last 24 hours.
A report released by district health workers, Bhagwan Pawar, stated that the PMC and PCMC areas added 222 and 200 cases, respectively, on Thursday, while rural parts recorded more than 500 new patients.
Progressive positive cases in this region have now reached 11.17 lakh, while the recovery stands above 10.88 lakh.
Over the past three days, the region has reported more new cases than recovery, said a senior health official.
The area continues to carry out nearly 30,000 tests even on Thursday.
A total of 29,821 samples were examined in PMR in the last 24 hours, with rural areas testing 13,500 samples, while PMC and PCMC authorities each did 9,484 and 6,699 tests.
Among the 13 deaths recorded in PMR on Thursday, eight patients surrendered to infection in the rural part, while four deaths were reported within the PMC limit and one death in the Pimpri Chinchwad area.
Health officials have urged residents to comply with Covid norms during the festival season to avoid increasing in cases.
“People must wear masks and maintain social distance.
Density in the market and public places should be avoided,” said a health official.
