Panaji: Goa’s Covid-19 Graph has dropped for now, but the direction that will be done will then highly depend on the behavior of people, the environment and virus.
“Our cases have been flat.
Our surveillance did not find any third wave signs so far,” said the State Epidemiology of Dr.
Utkarsh Betodkar to Ti.
For the next, the movement of the Covid graph – whether it’s up or down – Betodkar said it would greatly depend on the environment, mutations if there were, and people’s behavior.
Current weather, he said, has forced people to live in the room, but by dropping the temperature, more cases of flu can be reported.
“The temperature has dropped and because of the movement of the people’s unrelenting Rains has been restricted.
There is a kind of balance, right now,” said Betodkar.
“The cases may begin to increase if people start attending functions where keeping social distance becomes impossible, or a new mutation from the virus will play.
Otherwise we will remain in the highlands because vaccination has taken,” he said.
The positivity of the cave case has been below 5% over the past two weeks and has not shown signs of increasing even though some centers in South Goa have higher kasels.
Betodkar said that even during the first wave of pandemic, Margao, Ponda and Cortalim reported more cases, because these centers had wider jurisdiction.
Some peri-urban areas are under the jurisdiction of the city center of Margao, because also the commercial city has more populated vis-à-vis panaji, he said.
Of the 4,000 to 5,000 covid tests conducted every day, around 1,500 were carried out at the border checkpoint.
At least, ten to 15 tourists tested positive, and they were asked to return, he said.
Those who travel for business or students are permitted to enter the production of certificates that say they are fully vaccinated, and are not required to submit a negative Covid-19 certificate, but the test calculation is carried out at the high border checkpoint.
“That’s because the number of travelers coming with a vaccination certificate is still lacking,” he said.
“The number of people who are fully vaccinated whether in Goa or elsewhere are still low.
Goa has done very well on vaccination fronts compared to other states, but the majority has not been fully vaccinated,” he said.
