Covid: Gujarat sees 455 cases, 8 deaths; 1,063 recover

AHMEDABAD: Gujarat reported 455 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the state’s tally to 8,20,321, while six deaths from the infection put the toll at 9,997, an official said.
The recovery count crossed the 8-lakh mark and reached 8,00,075 after 1,063 people were discharged from hospitals, leaving the state with 10,249 active cases, including 253 on ventilator support, he said.
“Surat reported 96 new cases, followed by Vadodara with 72, Ahmedabad 55 and Rajkot 46.
Ahmedabad reported two deaths, while Surat, Vadodara, Sabarkantha and Devbhumi Dwarka saw one death each,” the official added.
A release said that 2,02,64,893 vaccine doses have been administered in Gujarat so far, including 2,34,501 on Sunday.
It said that 37,76,176 people in the 18-44 age group have received their first dose, and 69,846 have been administered the second one as well.
While neighbouring Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu did not report any new case on Sunday, its recovery count rose by 22, leaving the Union Territory with 70 active cases.
