Ahmedabad: Reflects a decline in demand in the Pandemic Year, 1.06 lakh supplier does not do business at 2020-21, shows data provided by the tax network and network services (GSTN).
The number of suppliers that produced e-way bills for goods during the 2020-21 pandemic year was reduced from 27.47 lakh in 2019-20 to 26.40 lakh 4%.
Routine stirring suppliers in various sectors coupled with a reduction in demand because the pandemic causes a decrease in the number of suppliers.
“Certain little dealers continue to fluctuate in various sectors such as ceramics and textiles,” said J P Gupta, commercial tax commercial commissioner.
“Sometimes the manufacturer does not directly supply goods but do it through a network of various traders and distributors.
This could be one reason for decreasing the number of suppliers.” Industrial sources say that demand reduction is one of the biggest reasons for decreasing e-way bills and numbers supplier in the pandemic year.
Patik Patwari, Honorary Secretary, Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), said: “Because of the pandemic, demand is a big problem in all sectors including textiles, chemicals, real estate, ceramics, and engineering items.” Patwari continued by saying: “We almost lost five to six months with a pandemic because there was heavy locking and restrictions during the section of this year and the resurrection of the industrial production and demand during the remaining parts.” Patwari said a number of traders at the bottom of the pyramid were forced for a while or permanently dropped the window because of the pandemic because of demand and supply chain problems were graves.
“The generation of e-way bills is directly proportional to the goods provided and the decline clearly shows a lower supply,” Patwari added.
During the pandemic year, the number of e-way bills produced decreased from 7.87 crores in 2019-20 to 7.36 crores at 2020-21.
Even the GST collection in Gujarat decreased during the same period of 5.8%.
