Rajkot: Mega’s celebration on the commemoration of 5-year anniversary of Khodaldam, the religious temple of the people of Levua Patel, has been about Covid Roadblock.
The ‘Patotsav’ program, was seen as a show of Patidar’s public forces ahead of the election of the end of the year, has been suspended following the increase in Covid-19 cases.
Khodaldham Trust in Kagvad near Rajkot on Saturday announced the suspension of the January 21 program.
However, it states that religious functions on the anniversary will be held virtually.
Trust has targeted a meeting of 21 members of the Lakh community from all over the country.
Khodaldham is an apex religious body from the Leuva Patel community.
Naresh Patel, the chairman of the trust has toured various Gujarat and Maharashtra District for the past four years to invite community leaders personally.
Patel has also appealed to community members to keep their business at least one day to take part in ‘Patotsav’.
“However, Head of Chief Bhupendra Patel is expected to attend this function, taking into account the new Covid guidelines issued on Friday it is impossible to hold an event,” Naresh Patel told the media in Rajkot on Saturday.
“Considering new Covid guidelines, it is impossible to regulate function now, but community leaders expressed a strong desire to continue with this program.
So remember their sentiment, we did not cancel the program, but only delayed it.
It will be held later,” said Patel.
When asked about his desire to enter the mainstream politics, Naresh Patel said, “I will announce about it when the time comes.
For any political announcement, Khodldham will not be a platform.” When asked whether ‘Patotsav’ was the power show for Patridar, Patel said, “What’s wrong in it? What’s wrong if a community shows its strength before the election? This is the right of every community.” In the past, Patel had signaled entering politics and had met with several senior leaders of BJP and Congress in Khodaldam.
Congress openly invited Patel to join a party.
