Covid Impact: No Ceremony ‘Halwa’ Before Budget

New Delhi: The surge in infection because Omicron has encouraged the government to play safely with the Ministry of Finance even to get rid of the fair ‘Halwa’ ceremony which marks the final foot of budget preparation exercises.
While some team members responsible for printing budget documents have entered the “Lock-in” in the northern block, this year, the ministry decided to distribute candy instead of the Minister of Finance and high-ranking officials participating in the ceremony.
In any case with the government choose a non-paper budget, instead of large multi-color books bundled into a bag and given to all members of parliament and media, there is a need for fewer people to be locked.
Last year, there was a small group that went for “key”.
“The budget press, located in the northern block, the house of all officials in the period ahead of the Union budget presentation.
The officers and staff will come into contact with their closest and loved ones only after the budget is presented by the United States Finance Minister in Parliament,” said a statement official.
