Covid: Meeting, marriage canceled across Hyd

Hyderabad: Omicron has attracted exhibition plugs, conferences, exhibitions, fest and large weddings with many who were postponed or canceled due to a surge in Covid-19 throughout the city.
Hyderabad is known as a hub for mice events (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions).
Every year, the city accommodates almost 100 major events.
However, the Covid-19 pandemic has thrown a shadow on all mouse shows for the past two years.
The Hitex exhibition center that accommodates many of these major exhibitions and exhibitions observes recovery from the second wave recently.
Now, many delays and cancellations are reported.
“For January 2022, five events have been canceled or postponed.
Uncertainty applies to the fate of four other scheduled events to be held this month,” said Srikanth TG, Head of Business, Hitex Exhibition Center, added that almost 75% of the business for 2022-23 had been back to the pre-pandemic period.
The hall and hotel banquet also saw cancellations and delays.
“Banquet Business is a substantial contributor to most hotels in Hyderabad and with a surge in the number of Covid-19 cases, we all experience some cancellation and delay.
But after the current trend, small meetings and events are expected to continue as planned, with precautions, with prevention measures, “Word Ian Dubier, President of the Hotel and Restaurants Association of Telangana.
Some people shrink their guest lists and call their plans to have a big wedding of fat.
“We have several guests who will visit Hyderabad for our wedding from other cities.
Now, that our guests cannot make it for a wedding, we have canceled the venue and decided to continue the marriage of a small family,” said Bhagyashree (the name changed) , who had ordered a resort on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
