Ranchi: Covid-19 patients can submit their nomination papers through their investigators if they want the contest in the election of Jharkhand Panchayat scheduled later this year, said the State Election Commission (SEC).
Although it has not yet announced the election schedule, seconds on Wednesday night released a standard Covid-19 operating procedure (SOP) nine pages (SOP) for voting officers, polling workers and candidates.
“If there are individuals, who want to oppose the selection but are infected with Covid or allied health complications, can submit their nominations with electoral officers through their respective investigators and do not need to appear directly,” Read order sec.
However, for all other candidates, wearing a face mask will be mandatory when submitting their nomination paper.
“Only candidates and one proposition that will be allowed to enter the electoral officer’s office to submit their letters,” SEC said.
The election will be held for 63,701 posts at 4,345 Panchayats throughout the state.
Near 40,000 posts are reserved for the SC, ST and OBC community.
The SEC also mandates that candidates can do a door-to-door canvassing with a maximum of five people.
“If there are candidates, parties or groups want to carry out a poll, meeting or Nukkad Sabha, it must be in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Center for the Center and State of State,” added the Commission.
The Commission also mandated many protocols for voting officials and security personnel remembering the pandemic and underlining that the collection of human resources reserves are stored in standby if there is an infection.
“Those who suffer from serious illness and are susceptible to Covid 19 infection contracts (because ko-morbidity) must be released from voting tasks,” the command is read.
Thermal scanner, cleaning and hand laundering will be made mandatory in all polling rooms while the dedicated health team will be stored in standby.
