LONDON: District Championship match between Derbyshire and Essex in Derby on Monday was left ahead of the game Second Day after players who did not mention were tested positive for Covid-19.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) made a decision after being confirmed Monday morning that a Squad member played Derbyshire was tested positively for the feared virus.
Unnamed players have begun to isolate themselves and other Derbyshire squad members have been identified as close contact.
“Because the isolation protocol and the impact on the derbyshire playing squad available, the referee has left the match,” ECB said in a statement.
The ECB said it had worked closely with the health of the British people and Derbyshire and Essex County cricket clubs with the health and safety of players, staff and officials were the first priority.
“Confirmation about giving points from the match will be announced in time,” ECB added.
