Colombo: The second international T20 between India and Sri Lanka here on Tuesday was postponed the day after visiting the Krunal Pandya All-Rounder tested positive for Covid-19.
Krunal, which was positively tested on Tuesday morning, had been quarantined and the entire Test Report RT-PCR contingent was awaited.
“The second T20 of Sri Lanka and India was originally scheduled to be played on July 27, it has been pushed forward one day and will now take place on Wednesday, July 28,” the BCCI secretary said in a media statement.
“Take a quick antigen test in front of the match on Tuesday morning, Krunal Pandya was found positive.
The medical team has identified eight members as close contact,” he added release.
All contingents underwent RT-PCR tests today to ensure further outbreaks in the squad.
“The report will come at night (around 6pm) and if everyone is in a clear amount, we can have a match on Wednesday.
Maximum among the eight close contacts which are also in mandatory isolation are players,” Shah added.
According to the latest information, Kronal suffered sore throat but there were no signs of fever.
He has a little bodyache.
Five of the 8 players – Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kiswa, Suryakumar Yadav, Krishnappa Gowtham and Devdutt Padikkal – have been closely related to Krunal.
So they all go into isolation, regardless of the test.
Two names are not yet known.
But it can’t be prithvi shaw is one of them.
The match must be played at the Radium’s Premadasa R here.
Now there will be a back-to-back match on Wednesday and Thursday.
India won the first international T20 with 38 runs and was quite confusing how the Kronal, which has been part of a strict bio-bubble for the past month, contracted by a virus.
This development also tends to influence the planned trip Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, which will join the Indian team in England after this series for the assignment of the upcoming test against England next month.
The duo should be connected with the red ball squad in the UK after completion of the T20 series and it is still unclear whether both of them are among eight, which is closely related to the crunals.
The third and last T20 is scheduled to be held on Thursday.
