Kolkata: Pockets in the city, which have emerged as a Covid hotspot during the first and second wave, reported a marginal increase in a case once more.
Although the situation was not worrying, Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Kolkata police guarded a close watch.
The actual number, though, remains very small compared to the two previous waves.
An internal survey by the Ministry of Health KMC recently found a slight increase in Covid positive cases in Behala, areas in the glaria-patuli belt, Jadavpur-Baghatchatin Belt, Bansdroni and several regions of Em Bypass.
Civil officials in the borough concerned have been asked to maintain supervision of special vigilance in these areas in front of the celebration season.
The KMC-KP Supervision Team has been established to enforce the Covid protocol and ensure that cases are not a surge.
There will be special monitoring of the market and shopping complex to ensure that people do not roam without masks.
“The marginal increase in a positive Covid case is not a major threat.
But we must be careful.
Therefore, we intensify our vigil in the market and mall located around this environment,” said the KMC health department official.
Most areas have recorded a marginal increase in the case of Covid sharing their borders with 24 South Parwards.
“Because of their closeness with sonarpur and Maheshtala, who recently had a detention zone, the possibility of people traveling to this environment was always high.
Also, with the celebration season that began with Ganesh Puja this week was followed by Vishwakarma Puja afterwards, there was a chance Crowding, “said a police officer.
According to a KMC official, the civilian vaccination center in the Garia-Patuli belt, Tollygunge and several areas of bypass also attracted many people from canning, Joynagar, Dakshin Barasat and recently.
“This is an area where we have to be aware of extra.
We cannot reject people from the district to take vaccines.
But we need to uphold compliance with the Covid protocol,” the official said.
