Covid starts at home, warns Minister of Health Kerala Veena George; 35% of viruses spread in the family

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George said on Thursday that at least 35% of Covid-19 cases were reported in Kerala now because of the transmission of the Coronavirus novel at home because the home care protocol was violated.
He warned people with violations of quarantine norms.

The minister also denied reports that hospital facilities approached saturation in many districts.
According to reports, all 62 ventilators and 94 ICU beds in Kollam District were temporarily occupied while only five ICU beds (of a total of 101 beds) and one ventila Tor (80) is free in the Thrissur area.
They also registered three ICU beds (41) and 15 ventilators (37) in Idukki; Four ICU beds (52) and 24 ventilators (32) in Kasaragod; Seven ICU beds (64) and six ventilators (66) in Kottayam; Nine ICU beds (99) and five ventilators (92) in Malappuram and 18 ICU beds (113) and 10 ventilators (68) in Ernakulam.
The minister said only 1,020 covid patients and 740 non-covid patients accommodated against 3,048 ICU beds at a government hospital.
In 2,293 ventilators available, 444 covid patients and 148 non-covid patients were accepted.
Veena said 281 hospitals had also been returned for Covid treatment in the private sector, where 20,724 beds were available.
This hospital has 2,082 additional ICU beds and 1,081 ventilators, he added.
The number of active cases in this country is up to 1,81,209, with malappuram topping lists on 26,326 cases, followed by Kozhikode 24,032 and Ernakulamp 23,230.
However, Thiruvananthapuram has the highest number of hospital admissions (3,697), followed by Ernakulam 3,094, Kozhikode 2,435, Palakkad 2,379, Kollam 2,166 and Thrissur 2,150.
