Covid Survivor Jagarnath Continues Minister’s Duties

Ranchi: After undergoing a lung transplant and winning the battle against the deadly Coronavirus, the Minister of Education Jagarnath Mahto on Thursday made his first public appearance when he continued his tasks of flexibility.
The 54-year-old MLI Dumri, who underwent a transplant in a private hospital in Chennai, told TI that he still felt rather weak but eager to leave.
“I returned with the minister’s portfolio yesterday (Wednesday).
I was ridden to sleep for almost eight months.
Even though there are weaknesses, I don’t have other discomfort,” Mahto said while speaking from his office in his government bungalow in Doranda in the morning.
“I will gradually return to public life.
Today, I will attend the Declaration of the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) results and then attend a virtual meeting on National Education Policy (NEP) which will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.
Mahto was tested positive for Covid-19 in September last year and was in a ventilator at the hospital in Ranchi.
With his health declining, Mahto was flown to MGM Healthcare Chennai Hospital.
There, he underwent a double lung transplant on November 10, 2020 after the doctors concluded that his lungs were completely damaged.
He was removed from artificial support a month later.
He was dismissed from the hospital in February this year, he lived in Chennai for postoperative examination.
He returned to Ranchi on June 14 in rented flight.
About the infection and hard transplantation has reduced mahto to be a shadow of his heyday.
“I lost 25 kg but would soon return to a better form,” Mahto said smiling.
Despite returning to the tasks of his elincerity, Mahto’s study seems to have taken the back seat for now.
“Covid-19 infection has damaged my studies, but my focus is now back to public services.
I will continue my studies later,” he said.
Last year, graduating 10 Mahto had received a ticket in A Bokaro College in grade 11 as an art student.
On Wednesday, Chairman of the Minister of Hemant Soren visited Mahto in his house and asked about his health.
On Soren’s visit, said Mahto, “Cm asked about my health and how my family was mentioned.
I was very grateful to Him for his support and for all he had done for me.”
