The vaccine against Covid-19 is less effective against the Delta variant, a large UK study shows results that can encourage the boost for shooting for people who are fully vaccinated.

The UK survey, run by Oxford University and offices for national statistics and published Thursday in Prefrint, analyzed more than 3 million PCR tests from random samples of people for detailed images of infection patterns because Delta became the dominant variant of this year.
“We see here real world data about how two vaccines perform, rather than clinical trial data, and data set all shows how Delta variants have blunted the effectiveness of Pfizer and AstraZeneca Jabs,” said Simon Clarke, a professor of Associates in cellular microbiology at the University of Reading .
With about four and a half months after the second dose, Pfizer’s shot might be equivalent to Astra in preventing infection with a high viral burden, said Koen Pouwels, a senior Oxford researcher who helped lead research.
There was no statistically significant difference in the effectiveness of Astra’s shot from time to time.
The results gave further doubts about the possibility of achieving flock immunity through vaccination, said Sarah Walker, a professor of medical and epidemiological statistics in Oxford, who helped lead research.
