Panaji: For other rainy season, white water rafting looks doubtful even though it is sufficient in the state.
Like all other tourism activities, Rafting rafting could not take off last year after the pandemic appeared.
This year’s condition is no different.
However, the organizers want to restart the activity, but the rainy season may end when the pandemic effect of Peters Out and the country is opened for tourists.
“We look forward to trying to restart white water rafting,” said John Pollard, Managing Director in Southern River Adventure and Sports Pvt Ltd, who started white water rafting in Goa with Corporation (GTDC).
In Goa, white water rafting operates only during the rainy season, and usually takes off at the end of June or in July depending on rainfall activities.
But because of a pandemic, it hasn’t restarted even though the Monsun was good last year and adequate precipitation so far.
“Two seasons have been washed by a pandemic.
A year before that, the flood disturbs the season.
We have three years without a favorable season.
If the next season is no different, I don’t know what we will do,” he said.
Rafting of white water began in the Mhadei River basin about six years ago and gained popularity in a short span of time.
A GTDC official said even though this was the right time to start white water rafting because the rainfall was satisfying, but without a tourist, it would be difficult to maintain operations.
When restrictions were appointed, it would be too late, the official said.
