New Delhi: The geographical spread hotspot Covid-19 continues to decline with only 38 districts are now reporting more than 100 cases every day, as against 58 districts by the end of July and 108 at the end of June, official data showed.
Weekly positivity also declined and stabilized below 3%.
However, 35 counties – mostly in Kerala along with some in Himachal Pradesh and the US Northeast – still report more than 10% positivity.
In addition, 30 counties have ranged between 5-10% positivity.
About 61% of the total active cases were reported in Kerala, the only country with more than one active case lakh.
Officials said a second surge continues despite restricted to a limited area and public health response should be guided accordingly, especially after the upcoming festival season.
Center urged people to take precautions and avoid the crowd.
“The districts where high levels of positivity need to observe restrictions on the district level to less than 5% positive,” says ICMR Director Balram Bhargava.
