New Delhi: Zydus Cadila’s Covid-19 Zycov-D Vaccine, which has been cleaned by Indian drug regulators for those aged 12 years and over, will only be given to adults until now under the government’s national anti-Coronavirus vaccination program, said the source The source is on Sunday.
The Ministry of Health has continued to start preparatory work for the inclusion of jab developed accidentally in the national covid inoculation drive and can be introduced in the program in the near future.
The ministry has placed a purchase order with a Ahmedabad based company for one dose of crore from the vaccine.
“Zycov-D, which has been removed by Indian drug regulators for those aged 12 years and over, will be given only to adults until now under the drive of the National Covid vaccination,” the official source said.
Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Thursday said the government did not want to rush to manage Covid vaccines to children and every decision in this case would be taken based on expert opinion.
He said children were not inoculated against Covid-19 on a large scale anywhere in the world, although it has been limited in several countries.
“About vaccimating children, we will make decisions based on expert opinions.
We have decided to think and evaluate before continuing with children who vaccinate because they are the future of our country and we need to step cautiously in this matter,” Mandaviya have said.
Meanwhile, a comprehensive program for pediatric immunization, including developing a list of commercial priorities, is being worked on by the National Technical Advisory Group on immunization (NTagi).
Zycov-D is the first covid vaccine deleted by Indian drug regulators for inoculation from those aged 12 years and over.
As for the approval of emergency use for Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin in the age group of two to 18 years by the drug controller General India (DCGI), under the opinion and evaluation of experts, the official source said.
To manage Zycov-D for adults, frontline workers and vaccinators will be given short training to use a needle-free applicator in the actual field settings.
At present, every citizen of the age of 18 is qualified for Covid vaccination.
The Zydus Cadila medicine company on November 8 said it had received an order to supply a dose of crore from its Covid vaccine, Zycov-D, to the Indian government of Rs 265 per dose.
“Zydus Cadila has received an order to supply one dose of Zycov-D crore, the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine, to the Indian government at Rs 265 per dose and a needle-free applicator offered at Rs 93 per dose, not including GST,” said the pharmaceutical firm inside Submission of regulations.
The vaccine will be provided using a needle-free applicator that contradicts traditional syringes.
Applicator is called “Pharmajet”.
Pharmajet is a needle-free applicator to ensure a painless intradermal vaccine delivery, which also leads to a significant reduction in all types of main side effects.
Zycov-d is the world’s first plasmid DNA vaccine for human use, significantly developed by the company against Covid-19, said Zydus Cadila.
Three doses of Zycov-D will be given 28 separate days.
This vaccine was given an emergency use authorization (EUA) by Indian drug regulators on August 20.
